Apple always comes up with different versions of its operating system i.e. iOS. Each and every new software update of iOS with its improved performance and enhanced features leaves the whole tech market in awe! This time Apple has launched its latest software update for iOS i.e. iOS 11. It has set new standards for operating systems.
With iOS 11, the iPhone will be smarter and the iPads will be more capable than before. This new system update supports the most amazing features of Augmented Reality as well as Artificial Intelligence. Just like the famous proverb “Each coin has two sides”, iOS 11 also has some cons, primarily the battery drain on iOS devices.
Rapid battery consumption on your device could be due to the use of GPS tracking, some high power consuming apps, and more. Don’t freak out if you are facing battery issues with iOS 11! In this post of ours, we recommend you to go through these useful tips to improve battery life on your iPhone or iPad after updating it to iOS 11.
HOW TO FIX BAD BATTERY LIFE OF iOS 11
KEEP AN EYE ON BATTERY USAGE
You can keep track of the battery usage of the apps on your device to save your battery from draining.
Go to Settings → Battery. Here, you can check the battery consumption of the last 24 hours and even of the last 7 days. Furthermore, tapping on the clock icon gives you the data about the battery consumption of each app on your device.
DISABLE WI-FI & BLUETOOTH
If you are in a Wi-Fi zone but you are not using it, then it is advisable to turn off the Wi-Fi. Same is the case with Bluetooth! These features are among the most power hungry features.
You can either go to Settings → Wi-Fi/Bluetooth to turn it off or you can swipe up your screen from the bottom to open the Control Center and switch off these services.
TURN OFF THE BACKGROUND APP REFRESH FEATURE
Though this feature helps your apps run smoothly, it is a high power consuming one. It drains your battery immensely so we advise you to keep this feature off.
Tap on Settings → General → Background App Refresh and turn it off.
In case, if you don’t want to completely turn off this feature then you can allow only some apps to run in the background.
INTELLIGENT USE OF LOCATION SERVICES
GPS tracking is one of the power greedy features. Keeping it on unnecessarily will drain your battery in no time!
Go to Settings → Privacy → Location Services.
If it is essential to keep on the location services, then allow only some of the chosen apps to keep tabs on your whereabouts. To disable location services completely, turn off the button next to it and confirm.
DISABLE AUTO-FETCH NEW DATA
By default, iOS devices fetch new data to your account. It is helpful to get important updates and information but it quickly eats your battery! Keeping it off will go a long way for extending the battery life of your device.
Tap on Settings → Accounts & Passwords → Fetch New Data → Push and turn it off. You can keep these services on for your iCloud or Google accounts by tapping on Push → Manual. You can even set a schedule to fetch the data i.e. every 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or hourly.
ADJUST BRIGHTNESS & DISPLAY
Go to Settings → Display & Brightness.
From here, you can make multiple changes. It is advisable to turn off auto brightness. Keep it to the minimum. Set the view of your device to ‘Standard’ mode. You can keep the auto-lock i.e. screen timeout at the minimum time interval.
Raise to wake function is a good feature to instantly wake up your screen. But if you are really running out of battery then you can turn it off.
DISABLE AUTOMATIC UPDATES & DOWNLOADS
If the auto-download feature is kept on, then all the purchases that you make on other devices which are connected to the same iCloud account, and all the updates will be automatically stored in your device. This is absolutely harmful to your phone’s battery life!
Go to Settings → iTunes & App Store → Automatic Downloads & Updates and disable it.
SET NOTIFICATION ACCESS
Allow only those apps to send you notifications which are very important to you. Turn off the notifications from other apps by going to Settings → Notifications.
CLEAR APP HISTORY
It is preferable to clear the apps from time to time after you visit them. This will make them work smoothly. Apart from this, it is advisable to keep all your apps up to date so that the apps continue to function properly. The older versions of apps are less secure and also consume more battery.
When you are always on the go, the last thing you want is to have your smartphone on low battery or run out of battery. External battery packs serve as a boon during those times! The Portable chargers for iPhone are available in a wide range of shapes and sizes. Moreover, they are capable of charging multiple devices at a time. While traveling in your vehicle, you can make use of car chargers to extend the battery life of your device.
The center of attraction of all these power banks, car chargers, and battery packs lie in its compatibility with all your devices – be it iPhone, Android, or Windows.
We hope that these important tips will help you to extend the battery life on your iOS devices.
