Flux Ventures was founded this past summer as part of the startupUCLA summer accelerator by two UCLA juniors, Alejandro Rioja and Miles Anthony. They received a grant from startupUCLA and spent most of the summer developing the product, going through two versions before settling on the current design. After the first batch sold out, some minor improvements were made to the design to bring us to the current version. As the summer ended, the focus turned to expanding the team and increasing sales, up to the current team of seven UCLA undergrad students.
Alejandro is the CEO of Flux Chargers. He was born in Bolivia and is a junior at UCLA studying Computer Science and Engineering. He enjoys spending his time freestyle rapping (as his Young Slacker alter ego) and working out.
Miles (most know him as @bausmiles or simply Baus) is a third year UCLA undergraduate student studying Applied Mathematics & Economics and minoring in Entrepreneurship, which add up to be quite the valuable albeit complex course load. Miles co-founded, cosined, and serves as current President for both Flux Ventures LLC as well as the Flux Chargers division of fluxchargers.com. To sum it up, Miles crunches a large number of real prime variables from all angles in his life but this cannot subtract from his love for surfing - this factor can be derived from his integrally chill upbringing in the chillest subspace of San Diego. Carlsbad, CA.
Kate Anoufrieva, Director of Sales, is currently a first-year studying Business Economics. Although she’s lived in the Bay Area for most of her life, she’s originally from Russia. She joins the team following an internship in sales and marketing for a San Francisco-based startup. Besides for working at Flux, she’s involved at UCLA as a member of the rowing team.
Alex Gotz, Director of Marketing, is a second year student studying Aerospace Engineering. Originally from Marin County, California, Alex grew up dreaming of becoming a pilot but now is aspiring to work on the frontier of space exploration in an era when humankind is beckoning on becoming a multi-planetary species. In his free time, he loves playing the trumpet and piano, golfing on the UCLA club team, and doing math.
Noa Batle, sales representative and packaging designer, is an artist and designer with work previously exhibited at the MOMA PS1 in New York and SF MOMA Artist Gallery. His work has also been covered by Cosmopolitan UK and published by BOOM magazine. He is currently a Second year Fine Arts student.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Director of R&D Gerardo Franco seeks to boost everyone’s busy lifestyle with new products. With an extensive art background, his training in mechanical engineering brings across-the-board expertise, unifying functionality and aesthetics.
Nicholas Yokubaitis, sales representative, is a first year student studying Business Economics with a minor in Entrepreneurship. He is from Portland, Oregon and loves going to the beach and trying new kinds of food.
Together, the Flux team is very excited to expand our business as we continue to grow.
