As part of Flux’s dedication and commitment to education, we donate $1.00 from every Flux Card sold to a philanthropic cause. For November, we have selected the Skigen family, whose father recently passed away.
Keith Skigen, a beloved Dad, friend, son, and brother was taken from us in late June, leaving behind two amazing children. Keith's compassionate and caring approach to life and his impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him, learning from him, or laughing with him, will be his everlasting legacy. A great way to honor that legacy is through his two amazing children, Jake and Addison, and this fund is being set up to help pay for education expenses for these exceptional students.
Jake is a senior in high school and in the top 10% of his class. His teachers consistently describe him as a devoted and conscientious student. He has lettered in varsity swimming and track every year since he was a freshman. He is a member of the National Honor Society and numerous other school clubs. Jake hopes to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the Fall, where he intends to study biomedical engineering. His senior year has been busy taking AP courses and prepping for the SAT. In his free time he can often be found at Barnes and Noble with friends talking about books or outdoors enjoying kayaking and hiking. Jake credits his father with his deep appreciation of music and his innate compassion for others.
Addison is a very hard working and passionate student. She maintains straight A’s, is currently number one in her class, has lettered in two varsity sports, holds an office in Student Government, and is a member of five other clubs. This Fall, she will be applying to the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. Although she is only a sophomore, Addison has already begun exploring college options including Keith’s alma mater, Georgetown. Addison is also considering many of the country’s top universities, with particular interest in the Ivies and Stanford. Outside of school, Addison partakes in YoungLife and coaches her community’s summer swim team. She loves to read Harry Potter, bake, and play soccer. Addison gets her infectious smile and quirky sense of humor from her father.
